On Sunday December 17, our beloved Jo Ann Taylor passed away. Jo was born on September 18,1957 in Norfolk, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Earl Taylor Sr. and Sadie Virginia Taylor and her sister Jewel A. Taylor.
She was kind thoughtful, and eager to help others with tasks or challenges they encountered. Jo graduated from Norview High School in 1975. However one of her most cherished moments was on March 7, 1970. On that day Jo was baptized and dedicated her life to Jehovah God. She served Jehovah loyally for 53 years.
Jo enjoyed many theocratic privileges in serving Jehovah such as Regular and Auxiliary Pioneering (devoting increased time in the ministry, witnessing about Jehovah). Jo also had a role in live Bible drama presentations at our conventions. She enjoyed attending a international convention in Mexico. She found great delight in studying the Bible with others and helping them learn about Jehovah.
Jo also operated a day care from her home for many years. Many of the children she gave care to are now adults who still fondly remember and did keep in touch with ”Miss Jo”, as she was fondly called through the years. Jo even coordinated some Bible plays that showcased young people and they will be long remembered. Jo was especially known for her hospitality! The meals and desserts prepared by Jo had the one main ingredient of love. And Jo would always ask “Did you get enough to eat?” She thrived in making people happy. Other hobbies of Jo included traveling, sewing, visiting family and friends and often surprising them with nice heartfelt gifts.
Jo leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Janice Lumsden, a brother, James Taylor Jr (Michelle} two uncles, Floyd Crumble ( Rosaland) and Herbert Crumble ( Doressa ) and one aunt Marie Ellis. Jo’s niece and nephew Jasmyne and Derrick McCraw assisted her greatly providing care for her in their home during her illness, along with her beloved great nieces Valis and Vallei McCraw. Jo also considered Charlene Weaver as her other sister. And a host of cousins and friends will also greatly miss Jo and cherish her memory forever.
Jo was well known and well loved by all and was the epitome of love, dignity, and class.
