Joe Floyd “Fleecy” James, 68 years of age, passed on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Born November 12, 1952, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Sadie and Rudolph James Sr.
Joe was educated in the Norfolk Public School System. During his younger days he loved dancing and being the life of the party which allowed him to live his dream of traveling to Hollywood, where he began using his creative stage name “Fleecy”. Joe assisted with choreography for the late Marvin Gaye and was even featured on the In Our Lifetime album playing the percussions on the song Far Cry and Ego Tripping Out. In the late 80’s early 90’s Joe returned to Norfolk, Virginia where he began his career as a Shipyard worker.
He is survived by his brothers Harold James and Rudolph James Jr Norfolk, VA.; son Isaac James of Nevada City, CA; longtime friend/mother of son Rachel Kelly of Nevada City, CA; 3 grandchildren, Yussef, Aissata, and Ramatoul all of Nevada City, CA. He is also survived by a host of Nieces and Nephews.
