John Coleman went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. John was born to Ethel McGill on June 7, 1948, in South Carolina. Later in life he would meet his wife, Emma, and after a long relationship they decided to get married. They were together for 50 years before Emma preceded him in death. John worked at Metropolitan Hospital for 10 years and at Presbyterian Hospital for 35 years. He was a loving father and grandfather
John was also preceded in death by his mother, Ethel McGill.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters, Cynthia McPherson (Kenneth) and Patricia Baxter (Myron) both of Norfolk, VA; his son, Clyde Johnson, Jr. of New York; his grandchildren, Charles Brooks III, Thomas Johnson, Kendra Haskins (David) all of Norfolk, VA, Cassandra Harris (Joshua) of Virginia Beach, Timothy Hines (Lorraine) of Washington state, Candace Lindsey (Vinson) of Jacksonville, FL and Travis Gearing; sisters, Inez Green of New York and Deborah Coleman of Philadelphia, PA; his brother, Raymond Coleman; two nephews, one niece, as well as a host of aunts, cousins, relatives, and friends.
