John Gallo Obituary

John Ralph Gallo was born Giovanni Rafael Gallo to Eduardo and Melrose Gallo in Florence, Italy [Firenze, Italia] on May 13, 1943. John immigrated with his parents and siblings from the port of Genoa in Italy to Brooklyn, New York in May 1944. Immigration documents recorded his birthday as May 15, and because of this we celebrated two birthdays for him, both May 13 and May 15. Because his mother had been born in Queens before moving back to Italy, John was fortunate to have been born an American citizen through his mother, and this was something he never took for granted.

Throughout his youth, John showed special talents for learning languages (including Italian, English, Spanish, French, and German), logic and critical thinking, and the performing arts. His talents served him well as he joined the federal service and served for many years, including as an award-winning undercover agent, before establishing a private Immigration firm with his longtime friend and partner, John Gismondi. Through their firm, US Americans, Inc., they were able to help thousands of people legally work and participate in the US economy to improve their family’s station in life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gyllane Gallo and four sons, Edward Gallo(Joanne), Gregory Gallo (Barbara)WillIam Ingram, Garrett Ingram (Nichola) and daughter Caprice Carter(Sherown), eleven grandchildren, Christian Gallo, Stephen Walker, Brittany Walker, Jerrod Walker, Avian Ingram, Justin Walker, Aliya Walker, Rachel Ingram, Nicholas Ingram,Julia Gallo and Vivienne Gallo as well as seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his siblings Henry Gallo(Cynthia), Patricia Gallo-Goldstein(Arthur), Richard Gallo(Melissa), a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, extended family
members including a bonus son and daughter-John Gismondi and Mailene Chesnut. Private memorial Service will be held July 29,2020 at 12 noon at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Norfolk.
