Katie Norfleet-Burston

On Monday, January 18, 2021, Katie G. Norfleet -Burston, affectionately known as “Katie Mae”, was called home to be with the Lord.

Katie was born on March 31, 1959 in Williamston, NC to John and Margaret Norfleet. She grew up in Norfolk, VA and attended Booker T. Washington High School.

She leaves to cherish her memories devoted Husband Mark Burston; Children: Sonja Newkirk (Sean), Latesha Shields (Warren), Mark Hoffler and Kinesha Hoffler; 16 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren; Mother-in-law Mattie Burston; Sisters: Lendora Norfleet, Bobbie Ann Watson, Shelia Chesson (Jerry), Mildred Griffin (James), Gayle Bonner (Kenneth), Mimi Wideman (Richard) and Dawn Benjamin (Leonardo); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. John Norfleet and Mrs. Margaret Norfleet; sons Shelvin Norfleet and Maurice Simmons; and brothers John Norfleet, Billy Norfleet and Michael Burston.

The family has decided to follow the Covid-19 health guidelines in order to protect the health and welfare of family and friends and will have a private funeral service on Monday, January 25, 2021 followed by Interment at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
