Kenneth Jackson Obituary

Our beloved Kenneth Stephen Jackson, age 56, of Chesapeake, departed from this early life on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Kenny was born to Frank and Valerie Jackson on September 25,1967 in Wilmington, Delaware.

Kenny accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Ebenezer United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir. Upon marriage he and his family joined Restoration Kingdom Church where he was ordained as a deacon. Most recently he became a partner at Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Kim W. Brown.

Kenny graduated from Baldensburg High School in 1985 and attended the Maryland Vocational Technical Center where he received his certification in Auto Mechanics. On January 27,1986 he entered the United States Navy. While on active duty he was assigned to the USS Biddle and was deployed to many places.  Europe and Greece were his favorite deployments. Kenny also served in the Naval Reserves until November 26, 1993. He received his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) from Tidewater Community College in1994 and began his trucking career.

Kenny was a humble man of integrity and honor, with an infectious smile and devotion to God and family. Kenny and Ruth worked together to ensure that their children received a strong spiritual foundation in Jesus Christ through mandatory church and Sunday school attendance, as well as    prayer. Throughout his life, he has consistently demonstrated a remarkable ability to maintain a level head. With his calm and compassionate demeanor, he has consistently inspired those around him to pray, stay positive, and trust God. His capacity for understanding and kindness towards others was unwavering. Kenny just loved people as evident of his nicknames: Deac (Deacon) and SolSirchr (Soul Searcher). He was multi-talented, capable of tackling any challenge that came his way. With a thirst for knowledge and drive to succeed, he became an expert in various fields. His versatility and eagerness to learn made him an inspiration to all who knew him. If you spent time with him, you most certainly heard some of his favorite genres of music such as Go-Go and country music. Kenny loved traveling, family gatherings, his wife, and her cooking and let’s not forget trucking!

Kenny was preceded in death by his grandmothers: Mrs. Melissa Warrick and Mrs. Alease Thompson. Kenny’s love is cherished by his devoted wife of 33 years, Ruth A. Jackson; his loving children: Erwin Junie Howard (Jewel), Alyssa Jackson and Quincy Jackson. Kenny will be forever missed by his parents, Frank and Valerie Jackson; sisters: Sonja Jackson and Sharon Miles (Rodney); grandparents, Elmer Warrick (Itsuko); nieces and nephews: Sierra Calloway (Mikael), Kira Jefferson, Tanya Gamble and Antowine Gamble; four grandchildren: Mia, Ezariah, Ania and Ethean. May his dear cousins and friends find solace in knowing that they were an integral part of his journey as they are continually inspired by his memory.
