Linda Deloatch Obituary

Linda Marie Whitehead (Jarvis), born on April 17, 1949, in Holland, VA, peacefully departed this life on January 30, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late James Whitehead, Sr., and Josephine Weaks (Hopkins) of Norfolk, VA.

Linda was raised in Tasley, VA, by her godparents, Preston Smith and Sarah Smith, both of whom have gone to their eternal rest. She attended Accomac County Public Schools and graduated in 1967 from Mary Nottingham Smith High School in Accomac, VA.

In pursuit of knowledge, Linda earned her Associates of Science in General Studies and Associates of Science in Education from Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, VA, in 1998. She dedicated approximately 15 years of her professional life as an Administrative Assistant to the Provost of Tidewater Community College before embracing a well-deserved retirement.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Brian Whitehead (Lynnette) of Norfolk, VA, and JahNesta Lynette Whitehead Savage of Newport News, VA. Linda is also survived by her siblings: Sharon Owens of Norfolk, VA; Arthur Weaks of Norfolk, VA; and Hattie Tatem of Norfolk, VA. She is preceded in death by her brothers James Whitehead, Jr., Lowell Whitehead, and Lester Weaks, Jr.

Linda's legacy extends to her grandchildren: Ashley Williams (Shambley) (Leon) of Norfolk, VA; Brittney Speller of Virginia Beach, VA; Breon Speller of Saint Marie, Michigan; and Peter Maner of Newport News, VA. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Ashley's son, Jordan; Brittney's children, Mekhi, Kamarion, and Genesis; and Breon's children, Prince, Josiah, Kimora, and Kamya.

Additionally, Linda leaves behind three bonus great-grandchildren: Anthony Jerry, Ramon Williams, and Leon Williams, Jr. Her three bonus great-great-grandchildren include Anthony's son, Kaine; Ramon's son, A'Mon Williams; and Leon Jr.'s son, Amari.

Throughout her life, Linda cherished the bonds of friendship, and she leaves behind fond memories with her three childhood best friends: Yvonne Pennell, Carlene Jenkins (Allen) and Sandra (Jitterbug) Savage, all from the Eastern Shore.

The family wishes to express special appreciation to the staff of Gentiva Health Services for their exceptional care and support during Linda's time of need.

Linda's life was a testament to love, family, and enduring friendship. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
