Lois Bills Obituary

Lois Clayton Bills fell asleep in death on Monday, February 3, 2020.

She was born in Akron, Ohio on February 16, 1939 to Mrs. Lomi C. (Bellamy) and Herbert Jenkins. She grew up, the youngest of four children, in a most loving family environment with her sister, Rose and two brothers, George and Herbert Jr., respectively. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jenkins, her sister, Rose, and her brother, George.

Lois’ early years brought many joys. She married and went into the restaurant business with her husband, mother and siblings. Lois loved life and found serenity in the beautiful wonders of the natural world. She loved learning about different cultures, animals and had an intense passion for trees. Her many self-taught talents included drawing family portraits, hairstyling and sewing. Some of her favorite pastimes were ice and roller skating, reading books to others at the library and cuddling with her furry pet companions.

Lois developed many skills that led to varied job opportunities, being both, a dental and nursing assistant. After moving the family to Virginia in 1981, she started her career with Norfolk Public Schools and part-time work at HQ Home Improvement Center.

During her early life, the Bible had been her foundation. She was introduced to Jehovah’s Witness in Ohio and continued to look for spiritual guidance after moving to Virginia. She dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized in 1984. She enjoyed teaching Bible truths to anyone who would listen. She lived her faith and this gave her strength through her complex, and often, painful health issues. Despite that, Lois was a productive Witness of Jehovah, to the best of her ability, and appreciated the visits of the spiritual family.

Although the last six years had been very challenging for Lois because of her declining health and limited mobility, these never stopped her from sharing a smile, giving a warm hug, or striving to be encouraging to others. Her enduring legacy remains that she was a beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, teacher and spiritual soldier of Jehovah. She will be sorely missed but will always be close in our hearts and memories.

Lois is survived by her children, Dale Wade of Hampton, VA; Marilyn Wade Bills of Akron, OH; Cynthia Wade of Norfolk, VA; bonus ‘son‘ Antonio Sierra of Norfolk, VA. Lois is also survived by her brother, Herbert Jenkins of Akron, OH; niece-in-law, Barb Roland of Eustis, FL. The list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning her ‘babies’, the grandchildren, Ciara and Antonio Wade, Nicole Creecy, Kendrea, Kendre and Kendrell Bills and along with a host of extended family and friends.
