Loyide Lorenzo Washington, affectionately referred to as “Peanut”, enjoyed life to the fullest. He entered into eternal rest on December 7, 2023, at the age of 75.
Peanut was born on July 21, 1948, to the late Robert Lee Washington Sr. and Louella Washington in Emporia, VA. He joined the US Army February 29, 1968, where he took pride in bravely fighting for his country in the Vietnam War. After his tenure in the Army, Peanut studied and became a master mechanic. For 10+ years he was employed by JCPenney Auto Shop. Firestone was where he continued to enjoy his passion in working on automobiles, once JCPenney closed their automotive shop for good. Peanut possessed a great deal of confidence in the work that he performed on vehicles. Many called on him to help with their vehicle issues and questions.
Peanut was a man who loved and cared for family. He was the son, brother, uncle and cousin that was at every function no matter where it was located. Many can attest to always seeing him smile and in good spirits. Peanut loved traveling, fishing, crabbing and most of all cooking. In October 1968, he married Jacquelyn Washington and their union produced two daughters, Stephanie & Erica. Years after their separation, Peanut met Sabrina Harris and their union allowed them to introduce two daughters to the world, Kanesha & Shavonn. Peanut was a great listener and a truly knowledgeable man. He thoroughly enjoyed a good laugh. His love for family and friends is what made all the difference in him leaving a lasting mark on the hearts those who met him.
Peanut is now reunited with his beloved parents, Robert Lee Washington Sr. and Louella Washington; brother, Robert Lee Washington Jr.; sister, Clementine Trotter; brother, Michael Washington; brother, Tony Washington; sister-in-law, Abby Washington; brother-in-law, Allen Cuffee Sr; and granddaughter, Kennedi Lee Davis, who preceded him in death.
