Lucille Ayres Pruitt was born November 30, 1939, in Accomack County, Virginia to the late Spencer Ayres Sr. and Mary Jenkins Ayres. She was raised by her Uncle Milton and Aunt Georgianna Ayres after the untimely passing of her mother at an early age. Lucille fell asleep in death on November 11, 2022, at Tidal Health Regional Hospital in Salisbury Maryland.
Lucille was educated in the Accomack County Public School System and later returned to school to receive her GED, which was a great accomplishment for her. In 1957, she married George Alfred Pruitt and from this union grew three children; Carter, Annette, and Sryvonne. Lucille was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed her life, which was shown by her loving and kind demeanor to all. She took immense joy in dressing up and she especially loved her short, medium, long, curly, and sometimes colorful wigs. Lucille enjoyed watching television and decorating her yard. After retiring from Holly Farms, she eventually joined the senior citizen program in her area. She attended every trip the program planned and loved participating in all the events they held so that she could do the electric slide. Lucille was a member of the Gaskins Chapel AME Church where she served faithfully until the COVID pandemic in 2020.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, adoptive parents, her daughter Annette, sister Emma Cottman, brother Spencer Ayres Jr., adoptive sisters Louise Pruitt and Etta Crippen, adoptive brothers Larry and Curtis Ayres.
Lucille leaves precious memories behind for her son, Carter (Bonnie) Pruitt of Salisbury, Maryland, her daughter, Sryvonne Pruitt of Virginia Beach, Virginia, adoptive brother, William Lippman of Dover, Delaware, her grandchildren Courtni White, Elron Savage, Christopher (Sonel) Pruitt, and her great-grandsons Jadden, Jacob, Lucas, and Miles, her sister-in-law Joyce Ayres, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
