Mamie Crews, (Stradford), loving wife of Edward Crews (d. 2021), mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother transitioned peacefully on Monday, April 18th, 2022.
She was born on March 16th, 1943 in Camden, SC. to Geneva and Isaac Stradford. She spent most of her childhood in Camden and at the age of 15 moved to New Jersey.(1958)
Mamie became a registered nurse in 1969, and then went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in social work at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. (1978) and worked for Middlesex County Board of Social Services until her retirement in 2003.In that same year she decided to make Chesapeake, Virginia her new home. Mamie was active in her community, being involved in civic and social organizations. She was an avid reader of mystery novels. And loved to travel and spend time with her family.
Her love and values will be reflected by her surviving family members. Her four children Christopher, Charles Jr., Tony, Rusty (predeceased); Stepchildren; Leon, Kevin, Stephen and Nanette.Grandchildren;
James(Janaya/Jordyn), Asia(Siraj), Christopher(India, Ahmad, Kairo &Saif) Siblings Della Jenkins and Bluff Boyd. Predeceased; Bryant Stradford, Ellen Leak and Robert Boyd. Host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
