Marcus Alexander Obituary

Marcus Alexander Sr., 61 years old of New York City departed on September 27, 2024. Marcus
Alexander Sr was the son of Richard Beverly Alexander and Hatti Alexander. Marcus passed
away on September 27, 2024 at Norfolk General Hospital. After Marcus graduated from
Richmond High School in New York, he joined the Navy and moved to Virginia Beach, VA. He
served in the Navy for 20 years. He retired from the Navy in 2002. He started at the Norfolk
Naval Ship Yard in 2006 and worked there until his passing. He was going to retire from the Ship
Yard in October 2024. Marcus and Veronica met each other when they were kids. He grew up in
Jefferson Projects in New York City and Veronica grew up in the Audubon Projects. When they
were teenagers, they went their separate ways. In 2005 Marcus came back to New York City to
find her. They got married on November 2, 2013. He loved her so much he remarried her on
November 4, 2023. Marcus touched so many people and was well respected and loved. His
sense of humor was the best of him. He would help any and every one that needed him. If you
knew Marcus every time you see him, he had a smile on his face. He loved life and everyone. He
himself was the greatest gift to his family giving him purpose in life and someone to truly love.
Marcus is survived by his wife Veronica Alexander, two sons Marcus Alexander Jr and Anthony
Jordan Alexander all from Virginia, four bonus children Veronica, William, Desean and Kenneth
all from New York City, two brothers Wayne Alexander (NYC) Stacey Alexander (Virginia) and
seven grandchildren, Marquis, Honesty, Serenity, Athena, Hezekiah, Markell and Ja’Leah, eleven
bonus grandchildren, seven sisters in law, Tracy Alexander, Valerie Simmons, Sharon Pierce,
Mary Pierce, Angela Pierce, Pamela Pierce and Evella Williams all from NYC and one brother in
law Andrew Simmons from Delaware. Marcus was predeceased by his mother Hatti Alexander
and his father Richard Beverly Alexander, his mother-in-law Annie Mae Pierce, his two brothers
Darrell and Ralph Alexander and his granddaughter Ja’Leah. He had many special friends. Noel
of Newport News was his best friend. Lots of nieces and nephews, cousin and friends, three
godchildren Kelly, Amir and Josh. Last but not least he wants the Norfolk Naval Shipyard family
and friends to know how much he loved them.
