Margaret Vera Rhodes, 84, of Norfolk, VA went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2021. She was born April 14, 1937 in Jacksonville, Florida. She went to James Weldon Johnson Middle School and graduated from New Stanton High School in 1956. She continued her education and graduated from Edward Waters College in 1970, with a B.A degree in early childhood education and retired after 30 years.
Margaret loved children and her gift was to ensure that they would learn something to carry them throughout life. Her passion was to educate and give love to all that she encountered. She was a woman with character, integrity and great poise. Being an educator she touched many lives leaving a good impression for one to carry throughout life. Everyone that knew her remembers her famous line, “Wash your hands."
For her cleanliness was close to Godliness. She will be greatly missed!!
Margaret was preceded in death by her (Mother) Willie Lee Turner, George W. Sykes (Father), and Rodney L. Johnson (Son). Left to cherish her precious memories are her son, Curtis Johnson Jr., her daughter Denise E Johnson, her sister Jacqueline E. Akins, her nephew, Derek L Stewart, her niece, Tiffani Neeley, her nephews Jarvon and Jarvis Neeley, her grandson, Curtis Johnson lll, her granddaughter, Porsha Gray, her grandson Ferrari Jackson, her grandson, Jalen Moore, her granddaughter, Joi Hill, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts ,uncles, cousins, and friends.
