Marion Wilson, Jr. Obituary

Marion Wilson, Jr. departed his earthly home on February 07, 2023. Wilson, as he was affectionately called, was the first child born to Marion and Ida Wilson on October 12, 1944, in South Carolina.

Wilson was employed with the City of Portsmouth and later transferred to the City of Chesapeake. Wilson was a “jack of all trades” who loved to work on bicycles and laboring as a handyman and mechanic for friends and family. Wilson loved to listen to gospel music, often sharing his favorite songs with those he came in contact with. Wilson also enjoyed watching Westerns featuring  John Wayne and Clint Eastwood as well as his favorite football team The Dallas Cowboys. He also loved to talk on the phone with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren. Wilson was the best grandfather there ever was.

Wilson was predeceased by his parents Marion Wilson and Ida Wilson, children Lucy Ricks and Honorleah Mackey and siblings Edith Boone, Franklin Wilson, Sr., Alice Wilson and Wanda Alston.

Left to cherish his memory are his best friend and mother to his youngest child, Vivian Lee Thomas; children Marion Todd Ricks (Yvonne), Steven, Tonya Ricks (Lamont), Antoinette Arrington (Johnny), and Vivian Mercado (Joshua). Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren Hilton (Erica), Shawonta (Terry), Katora (Willy), Dowonte  (Keyda), Lamontae, Quantesha, Stacia, Julian, Zion, Izabella, and Joshua, Jr.; Siblings Elder Earnest Wilson (Irma), Elder Jerry Wilson (Barbara), Harrell Westmoreland, Pastor James Wilson, Sr.(Patricia), Reginald Wilson (Ramona), Donald Wilson (Gina), Sadie Bridgers, Diane Benson, Loretta Dockery (Tim), and Debora Johnson.

Also left to cherish his memory are 11 great grandchildren, 4 godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Wilson was a loving father, uncle, godfather and friend. Wilson had a laugh and smile that lit up any room he entered. Wilson will be missed by those who loved him most.
