Martha Shambley

Martha Annie Shambley was called home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2022.  She was born on September 19, 1970, to the late Sonya L. Evins and Kenneth Williams.  As a Chesapeake, VA native, she grew up in the Park Place section of Norfolk, VA and she completed her education through Norfolk Public Schools. For over 20 years she worked in the hospitality and health care industry. Her latter place of employment was Signature Health Care of Norfolk.

Martha Anne, affectionately known as “M.A.”, is best known for her witty humor, her love for music, singing, dancing, family and her ability to be the thermostat in any atmosphere. She lived life to the fullest and those who knew her can testify that she was straight forward and hard-working. What you saw is what you got with Martha. She would not let anything hold her back from redeeming her life. Her resilience and determination are the legacy attributes she leaves with her family.  No doubt about it, there was only one Martha Anne and her presence will truly be missed.

Martha was preceded in death by her mother Sonya L. Evins and her father Kenneth Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Ashley Shambley-Williams (Leon, Sr) of Norfolk, VA, Regina Shambley, two sons Joseph Shambley of Newport News, VA and James Shambley of Richmond, VA.  Grandchildren Anthony, Ramon, Leon, Jr, Jordan, Layla and James, Jr. Two sisters Samantha (Robert) and Susan, an uncle Melvin Odom, Jr (Irene), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
