Martha L. Washington Obituary

Ms. Martha L. Washington was born in Franklin, Virginia on December 3, 1938.  Daughter of the late Andrew and Lillie Peebles.  She lived in Brooklyn, New York and worked at Saint Mary's Hospital.  She relocated to Virginia Beach and worked at Westminster Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay. She not only worked at the hospital, but she also took care of her patients in their home, becoming part of their family.  She retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and enjoyed taking care of her patients.  Martha was also a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, where she took time to serve on the Nurses Unit.  She also attended Hedges Highway Ministries.   She was a very generous woman who truly enjoyed helping those in need.

Martha was also an avid traveler, visiting Morocco, Germany, Hawaii, and other parts of the US.  Being on this planet for eight decades, she celebrated her spirit the way she wanted to.

Martha died Monday, March 11, 2024.  She leaves behind her son Robert Jackson, daughter-in-law Denise Jackson, grandson Andrae Jackson, granddaughter Carlie Jackson, great granddaughter's Mariah and Ava Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Preceding her in death  is John Washington who was a major part of her life, and her siblings Parthenia Washington, Rueben Peebles, Andrew Peebles, and Eddie Peebles.

A woman of grace and fire, wit and wisdom, we will all miss her, but take comfort in knowing that she is happy and finally in the Kingdom of God.
