Mary Buffington

Mary Elizabeth Buffington was born on March 24, 1937, to the late James and Elizabeth Person. She passed away peacefully to be with our Lord, Tuesday, October 14, 2025. She graduated from I.C. Norcom High School, June 15, 1955. She retired some years ago from the Tidewater Produce Plant.

Mary was united in holy matrimony to Virdell Buffington, Sr., and from this blessed union came three cherished children.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virdell Buffington, Sr.; all of her siblings; and two dear grandchildren, Reginald Jerome Buffington and Alysha LaShay Buffington.

Her legacy lives on through her children: Ellen B. Freeman, Vernell Coley & Virdell Buffington III, grandchildren: Cynthia

Buffington-Boone, Dominique Buffington & Jaimie Awdu, great-grandchildren: Patrick Izayah Cutler & Jeremiah Lee Compton Cutler, great great-grandchildren: Naiari Monique Dione Starkley & Leilani Michelle Cutler and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends whose lives she touched.
