Maurice Powe

On Monday, January 09, 2023 Maurice Edward Powe was added to the Book of Life.  

Maurice was born on January 25, 1961 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Robert and Maudie Powe. He is the fifth child of eight children. He was raised in Norfolk, Virginia and attended Norfolk Public Schools. As a young adult he was employed as a Waste Management Worker with the City of Norfolk for nine years and later went on to work many years as a construction worker before retiring.  

Maurice was a basketball enthusiast, who loved attending ODU and Norfolk State games.   He was very respectful of others,  kind-hearted and had a great sense of humor. He was the type of person who would speak to you in a way that made you feel important.  It was always a joy just to hear his conversation and be in his company.  

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Maudie Powe,  Nieces Latonya Walker and April Hudgins  and the mother of his son, Yvonia Harris.   

He leaves to cherish his memory his child Maurice Stowe (son),  Three Grandchildren  Amiyah Stowe, Alyjah Stowe, and Taylor Skinner, his siblings Romona Whaley,  Janet Robinson, Pearl Brown, Tyrone Powe, Robert Powe, Zina Powe, and Doshanna Powe-Johnson (Ray).  Niece: Monica Amy (Adrian), Nephews:  Gilman Dominic Wilkins (Michelle), Earl Powe,  Aaron Powe, Daeshan Powe, Okerri Wilkins,  Daevon Speller, Justin Powe, and a host of great nieces, nephews, and friends.
