On the twenty-fourth day of January 1958, McKinley (Lil’ Hyde) and Marie Gray welcomed their son, McKinley Hyde Gray to the world. They were so thrilled to finally meet their bundle of joy!
He was affectionately known as ‘Junie’ to family and later AKA ‘Halloween’ to his friends. He prided himself on being someone who brought laughter to everyone.
He attended Norfolk City Public Schools. He attended Diggs Park, Rosemont and Norview.
At an early age, he joined his family’s church, Oakwood Chapel Disciples Church of Christ Disciples, where he served on the Usher board until his declining health.
He married Paulette Riddick. They welcomed his faithful and loving daughter, Latoya.
Halloween was employed by Sheller Globe Corp, and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital .
McKinley was predeceased by his parents, Hyde Gray and Marie Griffin, stepfather, Charlie Griffin; Former spouse, Regina Gray; Step-son, Jeron Lattimer Paternal grandparents, Hyde and Evelyn Gray; Maternal grandparents, George and Gracie Edney; Sister, Evelyn (Sam) Smith; and Brother, Andrew Gray
Those left to cherish the memories and to celebrate the life of Halloween include: Wife: Donielle Gray; Daughter: Latoya Harris; Step-daughters: Kaishona Stimphill, Iyania Cooper; Step-son: Zarquis “Dawon” Brown; Brother: Hyde “Lil’’Hyde”Gray, Jr.; Grandchildren: Jabril (Jolisa) Mahammad-Rhoyal, Toriyon Edwards, Kayvon Harris, Karter Harris; Cousins: Angie Moore, Lynette Moore, Adrienne Dagun, Crystal W. Colbert, Yasmin (Chrissy) Nixon; Nephews: Carlos Gray, Hyde (Lil Chuck) Gray; Former wives: Paulette Riddick and Charlene Gray-Banks and a host of other family and friends.
