Melvin Lee Brown was born on July 1, 1942 in Norfolk, VA by his parents Lumisher Brown and Isiah Brown Jr. He was raised by his mother with his siblings Terry Brown, Yvonne Farmer, Rodger Brown, and Mildred Shabazz Stewart. In addition to that, he served an extensive time in the U.S Army.
Melvin "Tank" was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Preceding him in death were those he loved until he was called home by the Lord; his mother and father Lumisher Brown and Isiah Brown Jr., sisters Yvonne Farmer and Mildred Shabazz Stewart.
He is survived by his daughter Marlene Petty and her husband Darrick Petty, his two grandchildren Jaylin and Shamya Petty, brothers' Terry and Rodger Brown, and a host of nieces and nephews.
