Nelson Jones Obituary

Very quietly and peacefully at 4:10am Sunday morning on March 26, 2023, The Almighty God sent his angels to come escort our beloved Nelson Jones back to Heaven to live eternal life with God the Father, his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in the Heavens up above and forever in His Glory.

Nelson was predeceased by his parents Willie Cuffee and Anne Marie Baker; two sisters, Rose Marie Baker and Vernice Baker Cox; four brothers, Edward Baker, Robert Baker, Leroy Baker and Matthew Jones.

Nelson was born June 23, 1950, in Virginia Beach, VA. He lived most of his life in Norfolk, VA where he worked at Brock Farm for a great deal of his life as a young man and General Foam Plastics Corporation until he retired.

Nelson was in a long-term relationship with the late Deborah Ann Scales who passed on March 26, 1991, the same day as Nelson 32 years ago. They had been together for 15 years and had their daughter Jennifer Scales. Nelson gracefully took on the responsibility entering the relationship to help her raise her two sons Antonio and Timothy Scales and welcomed her nephew Mauricio Scales into their home at the age of 7 and acted as the loving father to all 3 boys, and a good man to Deborah. He was the best father that all 4 children could have ever asked for. The 3 boys heard stories of their real fathers but had never met them in real life. Nelson became the only man they ever known as their father, and they all loved and respected him for that.

Nelson was in a 32-year long relationship with the late Rosemary Yvonne Wattson who passed on January 13, 2023, 2 months before he himself was called to rest. Nelson gracefully took on the responsibility entering the relationship to help her raise her 3 children: two sons Antonio and Anthony Burke and daughter Latoya Burke. Nelson acted as a father to all three children. Nelson was a great loving and caring father to all three children and a good man to their mother Rosemary. Nelson and Rosemary loved each other very much. Nelson was very heartbroken when she passed away, he was in a nursing home away from her for a while when he learned about her untimely death. All three of her children still love and respect Nelson and always will remember him as their father. Nelson and Rosemary will continue to be together, because today April 14, 2023, Nelson will be laid to rest next to Rosemary in Riverside Memorial Park, so they can continue to be together forever.

Nelson is survived by his daughter Jennifer Scales; grandchildren, Lavontae Scales, Keliyah Mapp, Kelvin Mapp Jr, Ciontae Mapp-Scales and great grandson Princeton Mapp-Davis; brother Leon Baker and sister Mary Jane Daniels of Florida.
