"Prentiss Lamar Beal, the son of Deacon L.C. Beal Sr. and the late Mother Calmer J. Beal, was born on December 15, 1969, in Canton, Mississippi. He departed this life to be with the Lord on May 7, 2025. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlie Mae Moore and Elaine Williams.
Prentiss confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on August 13, 1986, and was baptized on September 14, 1986, at Harvey Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Canton High School in 1987 and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1987 to 1991, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. After his honorable service, he returned home to Mississippi.
On July 25, 1996, Prentiss experienced a life-changing moment that deepened his relationship with Christ. He rejoined Harvey Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and faithfully served as an Usher Ministry Assistant, Sunday School teacher, member of the Male Chorus, and wherever he was needed. As he continued to grow spiritually, he was led to worship at Priestly Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Later, Prentiss relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he worked at Haverty’s Furniture and received several awards, including Delivery Employee of the Year, Team Player, and Delivery MVP. He worshipped at Morning Star Baptist Church, serving as both an usher and a deacon, and later became an active member of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, where he participated in the men’s ministry, Sunday School, and the church prayer line.
Prentiss was also a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Alabama Crimson Tide football.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Bonnie Beal of Norfolk, VA; his son, Brandon Ayers of Frisco, TX; his father, Deacon L.C. Beal Sr. of Canton, MS; four sisters: Linda Beal-Brown (Bruce), Mary Luckett (Jeffery),Tina Beal, all of Canton, MS; and Tiffany Luckett (Steven) of Jackson, MS; one brother, L.C. Beal Jr. (Sherry) of Jackson, MS; a brother-in-law, Walter Ayers Jr. of Greenbush, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends."
