Rachel G. Franklin of Portsmouth, Virginia, peacefully slept away to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 25, 2021.
She was born December 15, 1952, in Beaufort, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Rebecca and Agustus Harper. She was 12th of 13 children. On August 13, 1988, she married Vernon Franklin, who survives.
She graduated from MaryGrove College in Detroit MI with an Associates in Early Education Childhood. She worked as a pre-school teacher for over 15 years and then worked as a manager and corporate trainer at Southland Corporation (7-11 Convenient Stores).
Rachel’s motto was “Only What You Do For Christ Will Last!” And she practiced what she preached. She was as a faith member of New Hope Church of God In Christ for over 35 years under the pastoral leadership of Elder Steven K. Wilson and Missionary Mary Wilson. At New Hope, Rachel served as the Financial Secretary, President of Home and Foreign Mission, President of the Pastor’s Aid, and was a faithful tenor in the Evangelistic Choir. She was also a Licensed Missionary for the Virginia Fourth Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ; Prelate, Bishop G. Wesley Hardy.
She is survived by her sons, daughters, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
