Richard A. Macklin, 72, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on May 4th, 2020, surrounded by family and friends in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was born to Richard Macklin, Sr., and Addie Macklin on September 7th, 1947 in Boston, Mass. He attended Boston English High School and later joined the Air Force, where he received Honorable Discharge in 1972. Richard graduated from Boston State College (UMass Boston) with a degree in Education and subsequently worked at several Boston high schools in the area. Richard made strong connections with a host of students and fellow faculty that dearly loved him and was known affectionately as “Mr. Mack”.
He met and married Denise A. Strother, the love of his life in July of 1976, who survives him. Richard is survived by daughters: Keisha, Quiana, and Naarah and grandchildren: Jeremiah, Tanaya, Eliza, Navae, and Nehemiah. Richard has a host of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Richard was predeceased by parents Richard and Addie Macklin.
Richard was known for his love of cigars, fishing, and wide brimmed straw hats. He had an infectious laugh that warmed everyone’s heart. Richard also had a great love of Martial Arts, particularly Tai Chi that he spoke so fondly of.
