ROBERT LOUIS HAYES, born December 13th, 1947 to the late Exodus and Hannah Hayes
entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, August 2nd, 2022.
Robert accepted Christ at any early age, began his education in the Dillon County Public Schools
and finished his high school education in Newark, New Jersey. After graduation he joined
the U.S. Marine Corps where he fought in the Vietnam War as a proud marine.
He married Brenda Fulton on March 20th, 1970 and to this union one son was born:
Robert Louis Hayes, Jr..
After an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps he graduated from Engineering school. He
attended Norfolk State University at night all while beginning his engineering career at WHRO TV in
Norfolk, Virginia , where he worked diligently for many years. Before retiring he moved on to other
engineering jobs in Northern Virginia and Pennsylvania.
In retirement he loved cooking on the grill and just hanging out and having fun.
He is preceded in death by two brothers: Exodus Hayes Jr. and Edgar Beamer Hayes; two sisters:
Patricia McCloud and Alene Jones.
He is survived by daughter, Yvette Fulton, Virginia Beach; son, Robert Hayes Jr. (Jamila),
Fredricksburg,VA; four sisters: Rhonda Hayes-McClam, Norfolk; Lillian Carmichael, Ashburn, VA:
Hannah (Anthony) Warren, Richmond, VA; Mary (Charles) McCrimmon, Dillon, SC;
one brother: Wendell Hayes, Dillon, SC; one adopted brother: Ulysees (Helen) Bethea, Little River, SC;
six grandchildren: Naadir Hayes, Newbern, NC; Malik and Aiden Hayes, Fredricksburg, VA;
Calissa Fulton, Arlington, VA; Aaron Fulton, Virginia Beach, and Bryuana Debrou, Virginia Beach.
He leaves fond memories to cherish with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
