Robert Lee Smith Jr. was born December 29, 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Robert Lee Smith, Sr. and Joyce Virginia Smith. He was commonly known to family and friends as “Lighting” or “SonnyBoy”. He was educated in Norfolk City School. He was proud native of the Park Place Community.
Robert worked at the Post Office and the Ford Plant. He never met a person that he didn’t consider to be a friend. He always had a wide smile on his face. When he could get it out he always had a joke to tell (IYKYK).
He was predeceased by his Grandmother Lula Jane Darden, three Sisters Johnette Smith, Brenda Smith and Elsie Smith, and two nieces Michelle Smith and Joyce Smith.
He leaves to cherish: one brother Lendell Rogers of Norfolk, Virginia; two sisters: Thomasine Bailey of Norfolk, Virginia and Shirley Smith of Norfolk, Virginia; eight nephews; seven nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
