God sits high and looks low. He knows the directions He has for us to go. He saw Ronnie in Rosemont Nursing home struggling, suffering, getting tired and weak. On Monday December 19,2022 at 10:05 a.m. God Sent His angel to room 206 in Rosemont Nursing Horne while he was experiencing heavy breathing and excruciating pain and quietly slipped Ronnie into his peaceful sleep.
On August 4, 1951, Ronnie was born to the late Verlene Artis Grant Kelley and Little Henry Grant in Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Ronnie was raised in Norfolk Virginia in Youngs Park and Oakwood area where he attended Norfolk Public Schools. Later Ronnie joined The United State Army where he did a tour duty in the Vietnam War.
Ronnie loved his family especially his nieces and nephews because he did not have children of his own. Ronnie's cousin, Willie Sibley was like a brother instead of a cousin. They were very close until Ronnie moved to San Diego California with his sister Mauri. When Ronnie returned home from the west coast he lived with his mother and back and forth with his sisters Linda and Mauri. Ronnie had his struggles in life, but his mother and sisters were always there to see him through.
Ronnie was a fun-loving person with such a cute laugh that would win the hearts of many people. He enjoyed helping people. He was a smart, intelligent, and loved a debate and most of the time he knew what he was talking about and won the debate.
He was a member of Oakwood Chapel Church where he would attend until he lost his ability to see. He believed in God and loved the Lord.
Ronnie had a second family, His Young Park family and friends which he kept in touched with for many of years. Larry Faulks, James Faulks and Joseph Johnson kept in touch with Ronnie on a regular.
The second week of November 2020, Ronnie had a stroke which caused him to spend two years of his life in Rosemont Nursing Home until He passed On December 19, 2022. Larry Faulks and Denise visited Ronnie regularly at the nursing home which brought joy and laughter to Ronnie. Ronnie couldn't talk, but he had ways of comminating with people.
Ronnie was predeceased by his parents Verlene Kelley, Little Henry Grant and Richard Kelley, His sisters Juanita Grant, Loretta Lewis, Mauri Williams, his brother Martin Grant, Step Brothers Little Henry Grant Jr. and Tommy Lee Grant, nephews Darnell Grant and DeShawn Williams He leaves to cherish his memories His sister Mrs. Linda Augustus of Virginia Beach Va. Step sister Caroline Scott. A step brother Williams Grant of Norfolk Virginia. A host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
