Rosetta Mitchell

Rosetta Mitchell entered into eternal rest on August 23, 2023. She was born to Helen Baxter and the late William on February 10, 1964 in Virginia Beach, VA, and she was affectionately known as ‘Burt’ to those who knew her best.

She attended Chesapeake Public Schools and later worked in many professions including landscaping and housekeeping at a local daycare. Rosetta was the kind of person that life never took her by surprise.

Rosetta loved spending time with her family and friends. When she wasn’t at work she would be babysitting or at home cooking, cleaning, and listening to her favorite artist, James Brown. She was a proud member of Enoch Baptist Church and she will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her.

Rosetta is predeceased by her father, William Short; two brothers, Edward Baxter and Arthur Baxter; She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Helen Baxter; her son, Johnathan Wilson; two granddaughters, Ablessing Wilson and Phadran Cherry; one sister, Cynthia Baxter; her brother, Lonnie Baxter; and her father figure, Arthur Uzzle; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Death is not opposite of love but just a part of it. Such a warm, gentle, and spirited person like Rosetta Mitchell was only on loan to us down here. We’re not here to mourn but to celebrate the fact that she suffers no more. She was planted here in our lives but had to bloom in heaven.
