Salvatore Mezzatesta, IV Obituary

DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER THE MEMORIAL SERVICE HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FEBRUARY 5, 2022 AT 1:00

Salvatore Mezzatesta IV, 72, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2022. Sal was born in New York and grew up in Ansonia, Connecticut. He played High School football for Ansonia High; he was an all-state honorable mention in 1968. Sal loved sports and enjoyed sharing his love for them with his father, brother, and children. He would go to support his high school team in person whenever he was able to make a trip up to CT, cheering for his teams the NY GIANTS and Yankees, going to The Meadowlands with Philip and Rose, and the Superbowl with his good friend and brother-in-law Adam.

Sal moved to the Norfolk, Virginia area with his wife when they started a family in the 1980s. He worked in the flooring industry for many years and enjoyed the many friends he made! He seemed to know everyone in town and kept up with many.

Sal was preceded by his parents Salvatore and Rose Mezzatesta III and brother Michael Mezzatesta. He is survived by his brother Joe Mezzatesta, nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members. Also, to mourn his loss, his beloved large extended Italian family, many close cousins whom he shared his life with.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 41 years, Catherine Myers Mezzatesta, his two children Rose (Todd) Grifka, S. Philip (Kathy) Mezzatesta VI, and he recently celebrated the birth of his first grandchild Niko Philip.

Sal had many friends from all walks of his life, that he cherished, and stayed in touch with. He and his friends spent many wonderful times together, with good food and fellowship, especially with his friends Abe & Kenny.

Sal will be missed by us all.
