Stanley Shepard

Stanley “Stan” Wayne Shepard, age 80, passed away February 7, 2025 in Norfolk, Virginia. For the past few years he had been living in the home of his cherished friends, Keith and Vicki Haskins on Cape Henry Avenue.

Stan was born on August 27, 1944 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Carl and Alberta Shepard. In 1947 Stan’s parents moved to Nevada, Missouri where Stan grew up and graduated from high school in 1962. Nevada, being the small town that it is had nothing to offer Stan employment wise. His older brother Harry, who had retired from the Navy here, urged him to come to Norfolk, Virginia. Stan agreed and moved to Norfolk in 1967. One year later, Stan went to work with VEPCO, now Dominion Power, and retired 32 years later.

Stan always enjoyed keeping his priorities straight and was seldom seen without a fishing rod or a deck of cards in his hands. However, this changed after he could no longer drive or take care of himself. That’s when Keith and Vicki had him sell his house and move in with them.

Stan was a member of Norview Baptist Church, Norview Lodge 113 AF & AM, and Norfolk’s Easy Does It Service Center. Along with Keith and Vicki, survivors include nieces and nephews, Rory McCrudden of Cooksville, Tennessee, Elida McCrudden of Big Bear, California, and Janice Segura of Olathe, Kansas.

A simple memorial service will be held at The Easy Does It Club, located at 1153 Harmony Rd., Norfolk, VA, 23502 on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 4:30pm.
