On Tuesday, August 17, 2021 Stanley “Ike” Dixon passed away after a long illness.
Stanley better known as Ike was born on March 31, 1955 in Norfolk VA to the late Charlie and Tinnie Mae Dixon. Ike attended Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk VA and joined the United States Navy at an early age. Ike’s mother was a member of the Garden of Prayer Temple on Park Avenue in Norfolk serving under the late Bishop L.E. Willis, Sr. at which time he became familiar with the Church of God In Christ. His mother later followed Pastor L.E. Willis, II to Garden of Prayer Cathedral in Norfolk VA.
Following his military service, Ike worked for the Norfolk Naval base for over nine years as a Crane operator. He then worked in the Dietary department at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital in Norfolk VA until he retired.
Ike was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Sara Jean Jackson and Verna Bell Price. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 38 years Joyce Thorpe Dixon, two daughters Jacqueline Larkin and Stacey Crump (James), brother Charlie Dixon Jr., sisters Anne Dixon, Patricia Talley, and Sharon Logan, four grandchildren S’Mya, Jefferey, Jakie and Kailynn, four sister-in-laws Catherine Purvis (John), Debora Roseboro (James), Elsie Williams (Melvin), and Jacqueline Langford (Alvin); one brother-in-law Anthony Holloway. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He loved his family and friends and did whatever he could to help them. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing and having a good time.
