And so it was on June 27, 2025, our beloved Stewart Tracy Canady laid down to sleep and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven where he will now reside forever more. He will join his Mother - Paulette Brown, his Father - Ricky Canady, His Grandmothers- Ogelee Harrison and Katherine Canady, Grandfather – John Harrison Sr., Uncle John Harrison Jr., and many other family members who have gone before him.
Stewart was born in Norfolk, VA on May 30, 1973. He graduated from Indian River High School, James Madison University receiving a degree in Marketing and becoming a Kappa Alpha Si man. After graduation he began his career and worked for Nickelodeon and MTV in New York City, Capital One in Virginia, and several other companies.
Stewart has always been unique in his personality, usually being the life of the party. His model-like appearance and clothing made him the envy of many and won him the award of the Best Dressed Student in High School. He believed in living life to the full and encouraging others to do the same. He was faced with one of life’s most challenging battles - a cancer that took 99% of most people away in three years, but not Stewart, he was in the 1% who survived and fought the battle for six years. He did not allow this challenge to stop him from continuing to live life to the fullest. He fought his last fight. He has finished his race. And now he is free.
He leaves behind his husband, Levi Surette, his Stepfather, Willie Brown, stepbrothers – Ron Brown and Jaelen Brown, his Auntie’s, and stand-in mom’s; Gloria McNair (Sterling), Patricia Harrison, Carolyn Chesson, Janice Drake (Lawrence); many cousins, in-laws, and other uncles and aunts and special friends.
We reminisce over so many special memories of Stewart and we hold tight to the scripture "Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted" We thank you for your words of comfort and your prayers. Dear Stewart, Tracy as we nicknamed him, continue your journey and enjoy your new life in the heavenly kingdom. We LOVE YOU!!
