Tammy Stiles Obituary

Tammy Athena Brooks Stiles was born to Phyllis Leola Brooks and William Harris on
October 19, 1960 in Northampton County, VA. Tammy, known as “Yamz” to many, passed
from this life at home the night of October 12th after a gradual decline in health. She was
surrounded and supported by her husband, three children, ten grandchildren, great
granddaughter and the rest of her loving family during the last days of her life.
Yamz received some of her education from Northampton County public school system. In
her early 30’s she decided she wanted to further and finish her education at the Eastern
Shore Community College, where she graduated as a Certified Nursing Aide. Anyone
who knew Yamz, knew she had a smile that would melt your heart. She cared for whoever
you were in/outside of her professional life. That was not God's only calling for her. As
years went on, she knew she wanted more than just to be a caregiver and mother to her
three beautiful children, who were the love of her life.
As life continued in her hospice profession, she met her soulmate Scott L. Stiles while
caring for his father during his last days. Scott and Tammy became Mr. & Mrs. Stiles on
June 23, 2007. Shortly after Scott and Tammy became members of New Jerusalem Holy
Church, officiated by Pastor Lummie Morris Smith, Tammy gave her life to the Lord.
Tammy proudly shared her love of singing as a Choir member praising the lord with her
favorite songs like, “God Did It” and “Praise the Lord Everybody”, she also served as an
Usher. Not known to many besides herself and her eldest sister Shirley, one her favorite
phrases to use was “DEVIL YOU LOSE AGAIN” when she received a good report from the
doctor.
Tammy was adored and admired by all those who she encountered. She shared her gifts
of singing, joking, laughing, and especially cooking to bring her family together during
holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. All those who were touched by her gifts felt
her anointing from God. Tammy was known to fix you a plate of her delicious food, but
she did not hesitate to fix your attitude. As a beloved Grandmother she cherished and
adored her grandbabies going to any length to ensure that they felt loved and were cared
for.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Loving Husband of 13 years Scott Stiles, Cape
