Tara Lovewine-Finnell

Tara Lovewine-Finnell departed from this earth on Friday August 8th 2025. She was born on April 15th 1975 to Michael McCain and Gale C Askew. Tara attended Norview High School and graduated in 1993. She was studying for her masters degree in Addiction and Clinical Counseling at Walden University while she worked as an Addiction Recovery and Substance abuse Counselor until April of 2024.

She was predeceased by a brother Antonio Askew and grandfather George C. Askew Sr. Tara, leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 17 years LaShawn Finnell and stepson LaShawn Olds of Norfolk, VA. Her loving parents Michael McCain of Portsmouth,VA and mother Gale Askew of Concord, NC., grandmother Mildred Askew of Norfolk, VA., step-grandmother Burnetta Askew of Apex, NC, two brothers: Monteze Askew(Anita) of Concord, NC, and Lamont Malin of Salisbury, NC, three sisters: Tanisha Bagby of Deland,FL, Adonnica McCain of Portsmouth, VA, and Chanel Jackson(Kenneth iii) of Brandywine, MD. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,cousins, in laws, friends and co-workers to cherish her memories.

Tara, was devoted to Lady Knights and her longtime friends: Dita Butts, Antwoin Potts and Tammy Wood-Faulks.

Special Thanks to Felicia Jordan and her care nurse Deborah Lee for support in Tara's care and last days.
