Tyrone Freeman

Tyrone Montgomery Freeman born March 18, 1949 to Sylvia E .⁶Melvin and Maloyd Burris in South Hampton County Virginia. Tyrone Passed from this life on Sunday, November 5, 2023 in Norfolk, VA. 

Tyrone was raised by the late Naomi Davis  (Big Mama) in Virginia Beach, VA. 

Tyrone was a stellar scholar/student and very highly intelligent. Tyrone was  naturally gifted with oratory skills, a true wordsmith with the penmanship to match. He attended Union Kempsville High School and graduated from Bayside High School, Virginia Beach, VA. 

Tyrone was married to Catherine Whaff  Freeman of Virginia Beach, who preceded him in death. They had four children Tymperia Freeman; Stacy Freeman Birdine; Tyrone Freeman Jr.;, and Theron Collins. 

Later he was married to Jennie Freeman. They had a daughter, Alexis Freeman. 

He begin a career in sales at Perry Buick Motors in Norfolk. During his many years at Perry Buick he earned numerous awards for sales excellency. As his career continued he also worked in auto sales at Bob Crumpler Buick and Beach Ford. 

One of the many joys of Tyrone’s life was traveling the country and sharing with family and friends his many exploits. Tyrone also loved music of all kinds. He fancied himself a “real singer” often singing hymns and R&B  serenading those around him. 

He is preceded in death by his daughter Stacy Freeman Birdine; brothers William Freeman and Bernard Freeman; a sister Barbara Jean Freeman and his foster brother Dannis Tillery, Jr and a grandson, Jaxson. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children Tymperia Freeman(Alphonso); Tyrone Freeman Jr.(Lucretia); Theron Collins (Patrice), Alexis Freeman (Josh); eight grandchildren Tyana, Alphonso III, Isaiah, Israelle, Immanuel, Tyra Kay, Theron Jr. and Jalen. His siblings Marvin Freeman, Bernice Barnes (Frank, Jr.) ; Lois Kearney (Tony); Lawrence Freeman; and foster sister Marionette Butts. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
