Veronica or “Ronnie” as she was affectionately known by her friends was born in Manhattan, New York to John F. Morris and Veronica Haines Morris on June 20, 1938.  She was raised in Long Island, New York.  She graduated from West Hempstead High School in 1956.  Following high school, she worked as a cashier.  She married Gene Lockwood on October 14, 1961 in West Hempstead, Long Island, New York.  Her husband, Gene, was in the U.S. Navy, so she was a dedicated military spouse who cared for her family during her spouse’s extended deployments during her husband’s lengthy military career. During that time, she also worked as a bookkeeper and worked as a School Bus Driver for many years until her retirement from Virginia Beach Public Schools.  Ronnie loved to go to play “BINGO.”  She attended many Rod Stewart Concerts and enjoyed listening to his music.  On Saturday nights, she loved her “game night” with her friend “Josie.”  Everyone loved Grandma’s banana cream pudding on the holidays.  Ronnie loved to cook and took pride in her ability to fix large meals to feed her entire extended family for the holidays.

“Ronnie” is survived by her loving husband, Gene Lockwood.  She was predeceased by her parents John F. and Veronica Haines Morris, Sr., her brother, John F. Morris, Jr. and her sister, Catherine Wilson.  She is also survived by her son, Gerald Hines, her son John D. Lockwood and his wife, Donna J. Lockwood, her daughter, Denise Lockwood, her daughter, Donna M. Lockwood and her husband, Orville Hammond, ten grandchildren including:  Dana Lockwood, Ashley Lockwood, Rebecca Lockwood, Veronica N.
