Our beloved Uncle Warren departed this earthly life on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at his home in Greenbush, VA after a brief illness. Warren Thomas Savage was born December 27, 1943, in Assawoman, Virginia to the late Nelson Savage and Annie Strand. Due to the untimely death of his mom, he and his six siblings were raised by their maternal grandparents, the late William and Elizabeth Strand in Greenbush, VA.
Warren attended the public schools of Accomack County. He worked as a farm laborer as a child and as a young adult he entered a more formalized workforce by becoming one of the “OG” chicken catchers for the local poultry industry. He was extremely proud of this and diligently worked in this capacity until his well-earned retirement.
Uncle Warren had a quiet demeanor and often times was regarded as somewhat gruff, however he had an exceptionally gentle spirit. He loved his family and spent numerous moments showering his nieces and nephews with both time and money. For most of his life he was the consistent staple in our lives. Uncle Warren had an impeccable memory of all the family members’ birthdays and other significant milestones.
Uncle Warren loved hunting, storytelling, and outside fire pits. He was never at a loss for words, and we will truly miss his encouragement and his humor, but his love will last forever.
Warren was also preceded in death by brothers, James and Nelson, Savage Jr, nephew Ernest White, Jr, and niece Shari Tomlin Lee. Remembering him with love are his three sisters: Pauline White, Whiting, NJ, Alice Tomlin, Lakewood, NJ and Helen Savage, Essex, MD; his brother, Roger Savage (Rose) Parksley, VA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, special friends Karen Long, Sherrie Mapp, Arthur and Gardner Dickerson, The Club House Family, and a host of other relatives and friends. Sorrowfully submitted, The Family
